Beryl Cheal is the founder and senior trainer and consultant with Disaster Training International, (501(c)(3) nonprofit. She is an educator with over 50 years of experience as a teacher, administrator, consultant and trainer in various settings.

Beryl Cheal received a MEd in Early Childhood Education and a MA in Middle Eastern Studies both from the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. She has also completed many short courses in disaster preparedness, response and recovery as well as a certificate program in International Trauma Studies from Columbia University, NY, NY. She studied one summer in Irbid, Jordan. She has also written two workbooks: Emergency Management Workbook for Family Child Care Providers and Developing an Emergency Management Plan, A Workbook for Programs Working with Young Children – written 142 Ways to Help Your Children Prepare, Respond and Recover from Disaster and written a book, CHILDREN OF DISASTER, The Role of Schools After Disaster.
